Hot cross buns, get your hot cross buns in Singapore this Easter!
Hot Cross Buns are an Easter classic that you can actually find in Singapore! And given how tasty it is, we reckon it should be a thing all year round. While a favourite during Easter, have you ever wondered what’s the history behind this treat?
According to Kelly Foster from Kitchn, there isn’t really a sole story to it. It rests on theories and hearsays across the centuries – the most known story: It originated from St. Albans England where hot cross buns were baked and given to the hungry and poor during Good Friday to symbolise thanksgiving. There was another one developed in the 12th century. According to that story, an Anglican monk baked the buns and marked them with a cross in honour of Good Friday. Over time they gained popularity, and eventually became a symbol of Easter weekend.
With that, here are 6 places to get your hot cross bun fix while you still can – be warned: They sell QUICK so the fastest fingers win!
