Clara Diez’s shoe company Binibeca Fashion was born out of her love for the Spanish culture, and a desire to share that culture with people in Singapore. Her company also carries a wide variety of collections including Ria Menorca, GIOSEPPO, and her personal name brand — Clara Diez Heels. Binibeca Fashion has grown significantly over the years, having 8 stores in Singapore as of 2020.
Aaron Foeste, Founder of Arthur Zaaro Design
When American expat Aaron Foeste founded Arthur Zaaro Design in 2014, he pledged that all the products he sold would be sustainably sourced from urban hardwood trees plated in Singaore. He has lived up to that commitment, and his furniture brand has thrived. His charming and functional designs make his products well loved by locals and expats alike.
Louise Hill, Owner of Louise Hill Design

Anisa Sia Johnny, Co-founder of Style Nomads
Anisa Johnny’s faire for business started when she was just four years old — repackaging her mum’s cake decorations and selling them as candy. Today, she is one of the Co-Founders of Style Nomads, a social enterprise which empowers single mums and marginalised women to make jewelry to sell online. To date, Style Nomads has helped and trained more than 50 women.
Tiffany Maughan, Founder & Owner + CEO + Designer of Shopping at Tiffany’s
Tiffany Maughan is no stranger to the fashion industry — she studied business management and fashion design in Australia, worked as a store manager for Aussie fashion brand Sportsgirl, and even landed a job as an in-house model. Today, she brings her brand, Shopping at Tiffany’s (which was original established in Tokyo) to Singapore, delighting customers here with dresses, tops and jumpsuits fit for the tropical climate.
Astou Montfort, Founder & Owner + CEO of AS’FALL
After spending more than 18 years as a global nomad — discovering other cultures, languages and customs — Astou Montfort moved to Singapore in 2017. Here, she used her lifetime of experience as well as her degree in accounting to register her luxe-yet-ethical fashion brand AS’FALL. Her clothing line has gotten high marks from the Expatpreneur Award judges.

With her background in horticulture and garden design, Karin Rysgaard formalised Cocoon Styling — creating spaces for clients to achieve the fullest versions of themselves in.

Preet Singh’s Embrace Physiotherapy Clinic assists with women’s conditions that many regular physiotherapists are not able to treat. When she is not supporting other women towards recovery at her brick-and-mortar store along Joo Chiat Road,, she can be found along East Coast having a quiet coffee.

SPECIAL AWARD WINNER: Innovation Award (Products + Services) | Aiming to prove that “healthy doesn’t mean tasteless”, fellow Aussies Anne Swain and Susan Soulard came up with The Whole Kitchen. This inclusive bakery exudes the passion of the duo, and serves healthy, great-tasting, gluten-free foods that continues to reignite people’s love for food.
Payal Thakurani, Founder + Culinary Director of Commune Kitchen
Payal studied to be mathematician or a physicist, joined an interior design and landscaping school, but ultimately found her real passion in the culinary arts. Today, Payal Thakurani heads Commune Kitchen, and makes cooking accessible to all with her inclusive approach towards her customers and guests.
Andrew Walsh, Owner + Chef of Cure, Butcher Boy, Bao Boy and Catfish
At the age of only 24, Andrew Walsh was the head chef of the London-based Pollen Street Social, which earned its Michelin star six months after his arrival. He has since launched his own restaurants — three, to be exact — plus pop-up concept Bao Boy. To him, “complacency, particularly in the restaurant industry, can be a major obstacle.”
Lynda Williams, Founder + Managing Director of Vim & Vigour PR; and Co-Founder + Editor-in-Chief of The Soothe
With a degree in hotel management, British expat Lynda Williams developed a strong pedigree in public relations, communications and marketing — before she decided to set out on her own in 2012 with Vim & Vigour PR. Nowadays, she also contributes towards The Soothe, which focuses on content that supports people in their wellness journey.
Andrew Yap, Founder + Managing Partner, The Old Man Singapore
SPECIAL AWARD WINNER: Innovation Award (Business Transformation) | With a career spanning over 20 years, Andrew Yap established The Old Man Singapore in 2018, brining the original Hong Kong Bar — ranked #1 on Asia’s Best Bars list 2019 — to the sunny shores of Singapore. While many were cooped up at home, Andrew and his team offered takeaway cocktail services, and launched featured drinks from acclaimed bars from around to world to satisfy patrons’ longing to travel.
Vincent Yang, Founder of abComo eCommerce and anyStarr
After completing his graduate studies in Singapore, Vincent Yang launched his Expatpreneur-winning businesses abComo in 2020. The eCommerce platform sells jewelry and accessories inspired by the beautiful Lake Como in Italy. Even though the business was incorporated during the circuit breaker, and the team had to be built remotely, Vincent has overcome these challenges successfully with his cofounder.
