Grow Your Own Microgreens

Try your hand at growing these small delicious AND nutritious greens that are often used as garnish on salads, sandwiches and soups.

WHAT

Vegetables harvested just after their first leaves develop. They have been found to contain a higher concentration of nutrients than mature greens.

The microgreens of wheatgrass, sunflower sprouts, red radish and pea shoots take about two weeks to grow.

GROW

Use a regular potting mix from nurseries and grow them in shallow trays with drainage holes. Keep the soil moist but not wet.

HARVEST

Harvest them when they’re about 10cm tall. Discard the roots and start a new batch with new compost and seeds.

BUY

Find microgreen seeds and compost at nurseries, the Gardens Shops at Singapore Botanic Gardens and online stores like www.batch.sg.
