The March school holidays are here but don’t fret, we’ve got a bunch of activities lined up for your and kiddos. We promise there’re plenty of opportunities for them to expend their energy, engage in new experiences and get crafty too. Not to mention, these opportunities allow whole family to spend quality time together too.

This March, join ARThaus for a fun-filled holiday packed with art workshops and courses suitable for students aged 5 to 16! Choose from a mix of three- or five-day camps ($240 and $315 respectively) that include oil/canvas/acrylic painting, watercolour, drawing and many more. For safety, each class is capped at 12 students. Single classes are available at $68 per session.

Inspired Arts, a children’s art school founded by our very own Expatpreneur 2020 eAwards Winner Hamish Betts, is now hosting their very own themed holiday camps! Explore visual arts activities like mixed media, painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, weaving and more.
From 15 – 18 March 2021, let your child choose from four different camps (priced at $325 for four days): The Masters (mixed media), 4 Countries in 4 Days (authentic cultural experience through art), The Digital Artist (digital “mess” making) and New Zealand (an all-rounded make-believe travel experience). That’s not all, it also holds weekly classes too!

It’s never too early to start practicing yoga, and while you can introduce this to your kids via exercises at home and YouTube tutorials, there is nothing better than working with an experienced practitioner who’s MOE Schools-certified!
Sophie at So Yoga runs kids classes at various locations and her classes are suitable for kids between 6 and 9 years old. She also runs family yoga classes on occasion, which is a great way to bond with the kids over a restorative practice.

Take a shot at learning coding through Minecraft with STEM Academy‘s March Holiday 8-hour Workshop ($240)! Capped at six pax per class and suitable for ages 7 to 12, this workshop runs through 13 to 20 March 2021.
Travel through time and escape from fearsome beasts with this holiday programme, brought to you with Minecraft: Education Edition! A junior coding workshop designed to teach coding fundamentals and computational thinking skills to children, instructors will emphasise the acquisition of problem-solving and logical thinking to overcome challenges.

Looking for some intensive Mandarin programmes for your child this holiday? Try Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT)‘s Hansel & Gretel Stage Camp ($300)! Come 15 to 19 March 2021, follow the trail of breadcrumbs to discover the tale of Hansel and Gretel! Through this five-day camp, participants will develop their confidence, creativity, and communication skills in Mandarin, supported by SRT’s professional teaching team.
This camp will be held at two locations: Aliwal Arts Centre (Monday to Thursday) and KC Arts Centre – Home of SRT (Friday).

This March, join ACT 3 in its Fractured Fairy Tales holiday workshop where your child will explore a mish-mash twisted interpretation of popular stories like Goldilocks, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Hansel and Gretel, amongst others. Through the use of physical movement to music as well as creative and exploratory play, your child will build confidence and the imagination on this journey of FUN!
From 15 to 18 March, in this week-long drama workshop for children 3 to 7 years of age ($300), your child will learn to dramatise a Fractured Fairy Tale through words and vocal dynamics, and with dramatic expression, creative movement and gestures.
Available in single sessions from 4 to 28 March for children 18 to 36 months of age ($40 inclusive of one parent), its one-off Drama workshops will take inspiration from the classic Red Riding Hood tale where you and your child will join Red on her FUN adventures through the forest to find Grandma’s house! In 60 minutes, spark your child’s imagination and create plenty of excitement as the both of you step into the world of make-believe, play and discovery.

Come 15 March 2021, The Junior Rockstars ($40) – get it? Rock? – is a 1.5h holiday programme, designed for children from 7 to 12 years old. In this programme, The GEM Museum will show the little kiddos how art and science can come together through gemstones through multi-sensory learning aspects of seeing, touching, feeling such as mining and using of equipment like the loupe.

Do you have a budding MasterChef in your home? Treat them to a “Junior Chef” cooking class at ToTTwith its March Holiday Bake & Go Cookie-Making Workshop ($24). Suitable for ages 5 to 12, ToTT runs cooking classes where parents and kids can cook together. This March? Chocolate chip cookie is on the menu.
They will learn to prepare at least three dishes per class, using the state-of-the-art tools and equipment that ToTT is famed for. The kids go home with recipe print-outs and an apron. Classes are held on weekdays and weekends, at their Century Square and Suntec outlets. ToTT is still up and running with new safety measures, read about them here.

The long school holidays are a good time to explore volunteer work. The Food Bank Singapore is an organisation that collects unused and unwanted food from homes and organisations, and donates it to the needy.
Get involved by collecting unwanted food items from within your neighbourhood, friends and community. Food Bank Singapore Junior’s Club also recruits junior volunteers. The kids will be involved in collection and donation drives, food sorting and more. The experience and learning will be priceless.

Does your kid love birds? If so, head to Jurong Bird Park to experience wildlife tours, feeding activities and even camps! Here’s a chance to have intimate bird encounters and care for these feathered animals!

To keep your hyperactive young ones actively engaged, look no further than the gymnastics camps at The Yard. Their two locations (Dempsey and Jurong) will run five-day intensive three-hour-long *camps which are a mix of fun and training across various ages. (*Yes, its summer camps are back!)
Choose from single-activity camps and multi-activity camps and expect them to dabble in Gymnastics, Trampoline, Parkour, Ninja and Freestyle programmes. The camps see kids going from drills to skills, strength to strength, with continuously monitored progress and challenges.
All five-day campers will receive a goody bag and a certificate of completion.

In a pre-digital age, we remember spending our school holidays amidst books and make-believe. Encourage your kids to be book lovers by making regular visits to the public libraries.
Queenstown Public Library, Central Public Library and the Tampines Regional Library are among the several that have a children’s section, complete with height-appropriate shelves, reading nooks and areas dedicated to toddlers, school-aged kids and even teens. The libraries also hold storytelling sessions and reading-related activities regularly.
Be sure to book your visit online and check the crowd levels before you head down!
