Hack it!

Life is hard… but not that hard, if you’re smart about it.

1. Use toilet paper rolls as cord holders

How many of these have you thrown away that you could’ve put to good use?

Decorate them with fanciful tape or wrapping paper if you like!

2. Use a nail filer to remove stains

Nail filers can act as sandpaper to remove stubborn stains from suede fabrics. Brush the fabric after the stain is removed to restore its texture.

3. Use toothpaste as acne cream

Most toothpastes contain ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide, witch hazel, and baking soda, all of which are great for taking down that untimely zit by drying it out.

Proceed with caution, though; also, avoid whitening toothpastes that contain bleach, which may burn the skin.

4. Use black tea to prevent odour

Keep a jar of used black tea bags in your fridge to prevent odour.

Smelly feet? Soak them in black tea for about 20 minutes every other day.

5. Use lemon to brighten laundry whites

Simply throw in half a cup of lemon juice together with your laundry load, sit back, and be greeted with a finished load of fresh whites.

6. Use newspapers to ripen tropical fruits

We’ve all had those times when we’re reaaaally craving the unripened mango we just bought.

Shorten the wait by wrapping the fruits individually and placing them out in room temperature. Ripening fruits produce a certain gas that speeds up the process, and trapping the gas in the newspaper further speeds up the ripening.

7. Use your macbook charger as a bottle opener

Who knew? Your Mac power adapter can do more than just charge your devices – it can fuel you with booze too!

Spray some vinegar on the surface of your grill or other cooking equipment, and use a crumpled up ball of aluminium foil to scrub the grime and char off.

Alternatively, to remove stubborn stains on your grill, place pieces of aluminium foil on the grill, shut it, and turn the grill on high. Leave it for about 20-25 minutes before removing the foil with a pair of tongs, and use an old towel to wipe away the remaining grime-turned-ash.

9. …Or to up your bacon game
