4 Fun Ways to Keep the Whole Family Fit

Want to get out of the house for some quality fitness time? From fun activities to new experiences, here are four ways to help you bond with the kids while getting healthy at the same time.

 

ROCK CLIMBING

WHERE: The Rock School, #01-06 Bedok Community Centre, 850 New Upper Changi Road, tel: 6242-2106, www.therockschool.sg

WHAT: Scale heights alongside Junior at this rock-climbing institution, which holds “Double Up!” workshops once a month for parents and children (one parent to a maximum of two child climbers). You get to try assisted top-rope climbing, as well as games like climb-charades.

HOW MUCH: $58 for each adult-child pair, and $20 for each additional climber. The Rock School members get to enjoy a 10% discount.

 

TAEKWONDO

WHERE: Trifecta Martial Arts, #04-51 Hiap Hoe Building, 18 Ah Hood Road, tel: 6334-3812, www.trifecta.com.sg

WHAT: Pick up useful self-defence skills at this dedicated martial arts academy, which offers family taekwondo classes that combine drills and techniques suitable for both parent and child. Expect loads of tumbles and fun on the mat.

HOW MUCH: $480 a person for a 12-week term, with lessons once a week. Call to enquire about other packages.

 

TRAMPOLINING

WHAT: This new 20,000 sq ft indoor trampolining park is the largest in Singapore, and boasts dodgeball courts, foam pits, tumble tracks and rock walls on top of the usual trampolines. All facilities are suitable for adults and children alike.

HOW MUCH: From $9.50 for a 30-minute weekend jump. There’s a Zoom Kids programme ($13 an hour) on Wednesdays and Thursdays (10am-12pm), where certain sections of the park are specially reserved for children aged five and below.

 

SAILING

WHERE: Sailfun, Marina Barrage, 8 Marina Gardens Drive, tel: 6514-5959, www.marinabaysailing.sg

WHAT: A two-hour programme aimed at families with children aged between seven and 14. You’ll learn basic sailing terminology and techniques – such as steering and hoisting the sails – that can help develop muscle strength and endurance. All that while enjoying scenic views of the bay!

HOW MUCH: $98.10 for each adult-child pair, and $39.25 for every additional child.
