His work is currently on exhibit at Bruno Gallery, but before you head on down to view the specially created SG50 piece, check out these cool facts about the master artist.
1. UNIVERSAL APPEAL
As one of the world’s most popular 3-D pop artists, Charles Fazzino’s work can be found in the private collections of famous celebrities like Michael Jordan, Julia Roberts and Hillary Clinton, amongst others. The 59-year-old artist is known for his famous 3-D renderings of New York and other cities, and has also created masterful tributes to popular legends like Elvis Presley, Alfred Hitchcock and Marilyn Monroe. Additionally, Fazzino has painted the Grammys, two FIFA World Cup tournaments and 14 Super Bowls, making his work engaging to people from all walks of life.
2. METICULOUSLY HANDCRAFTED PIECES
Fazzino utilises vibrant colours, frenetic energy and a unique assembled 3-D layering technique to bring each piece to life. Done entirely by hand, the image first undergoes a painstaking hand-printed silkscreen process. It is then carefully cut, glued and glittered before being re-assembled to complete each creation. His SG50 piece is available as a Day and a Night version; both of which are limited editions of 50.
3. A GLOBAL FOLLOWING
The expert storyteller is often referred to as a pop culture historian, due in part to his exciting skill with colours and movement. His innovative style, technique and sense of composition has impacted many collectors and art lovers and garnered Fazzino a loyal fan base in the United States, Europe, Asia, and even in South Africa.
4. INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
Over the course of a 20-year career, Fazzino’s artworks have been exhibited in hundreds of museums and galleries such as the Norman Rockwell Museum, The Arlington Museum of Art and NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. The artist with a big heart also donates his time and work to various charitable causes around the world. He currently serves as the National Vice President of The Muscular Dystrophy Association in the United States and has been chronicled in six different books. Despite a hectic schedule filled with travels, charitable works and promotional events, Fazzino still finds the time to create anywhere between 20 to 30 new pieces yearly!
The iconic artist will showcase over 30 works from his extensive repertoire in The Colours of Singapore – a 3D Solo Exhibition, now on display at Bruno Gallery. The exhibition will run until June 14, so check out Fazzino’s masterpieces while you still have a chance.
