5 Must Have Kitchen Gadgets

We love a good kitchen gadget. They’re handy, helpful and for those of us who don’t love cooking, they can even make it fun! We’ve found some great new products for tea, wine and more!

Tea Time

There’s a wide variety of coffee machines  in the market, but not many make tea.  That’s why we’re impressed with the  Tea Maker ($498) from Australian brand Breville. Simply fill it with water, load  your tea leaves into the basket, select the  type of tea and strength you want, and the gadget will automatically lower the tea basket into the water when the optimal water temperature has been reached. It brews your drink for the ideal duration, pulling the basket out when it’s done to give you a perfectly balanced cuppa.

Breville is available at Basement 1 of Takashimaya D.S., Level 4 of Metro Centrepoint, Tangs Orchard and Robinsons The Heeren.

Your Own Sous-chef

If the chore of shopping for groceries is stopping you from preparing homemade meals, hand the task over to You Cook It. This Web-based service allows you to order starters, mains or desserts (think rib-eye steak with parmesan sauce, and millefeuille layered with avocado, scallop, chorizo and mango, to name a few dishes). A basket of ingredients, including a recipe card, will then be delivered to you the very next day.Hop over to www.you-cookit.com to find out more.

Better with Age

Ever wondered how top-tier hotels and restaurants protect their precious wine collection from Singapore’s unforgiving climate? The use of specialised wine storage solutions is key; and if you’d like the same for your home, look to Vintec’s climate-controlled wine cabinets. They allow wine to mature beautifully by simulating the conditions found in natural underground cellars.

Check out Vintec’s full range at APS Lifestyle Gallery, 9 Muthuraman Chetty Road, tel: 6233-0593.

Oven-garde

Oven-cooked meals are healthy and fuss-free. With the new Bosch Series 8 ovens, they are even easier to prepare. The ovens rely on 4D hot air technology to distribute heat evenly, so you can cook your food on any of the oven shelves. Combine this with a new steam injection function, and this makes cuts of meat crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. Another feature, the Perfectbake sensor, regulates moisture levels in the oven, so you’ll never have to worry about underbaking or overbaking your cakes again. The new series, comprising 11 models, are available at all leading department and home-appliance stores island-wide from June.
