Where To Find The Best AÇAÍ Bowls In Singapore For A Healthy Treat

Move aside ice cream, there's a new dessert in town.

Instead of ice cream, how about a nice cold bowl of açaí as a healthier alternative?

Pronounced ‘ah-sigh-ee’, the açaí berry is the one of the trendiest superfoods out there — and for good reason. Packed full of immune-system building antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, it’s no surprise this little fruit from South America is much beloved in smoothie bowls.

So where do you find the best açaí bowls in Singapore anyway? It can seem overwhelming to sift through the plethora of options, especially when it comes to picking one that suits your dietary preferences and taste buds. So we have rounded up our picks of the best açaí bowls in Singapore to satisfy your sweet tooth, in a vry healthy way

1. Håakon Superfoods & Juice

Haakon Superfoods and Juice is a cafe chain specialising in healthy foods.

Inspired by Scandinavian philosophies towards food and healthy living, Haakon Superfoods prides themselves on serving up nutritious and delicious food, including some of the best açaí bowls in Singapore. Portions are more than generous here, and we recommend sharing the large açaí bowl. Chocolate lovers can try the Cacao Bliss Açaí Bowl (from $7.90) — consisting of a base of bananas, cacao and açaí. The bowl is topped with seasonal tropical fruit, homemade granola, cacao nibs and chia seed parfait.

JUJU is a takeaway chain specialising in acai bowls in Singapore.

Tucked away inside Singapore Botanic Gardens is a JUJU, a lesser-known option for açaí bowls in Singapore. This tiny booth should be more well-known because the smoothies, ice-creams and açaí pints are vegan, and gluten-free and refined sugar-free. Theese frozeb treats are made from 100 percent whole fruits (pulp and all!)

Take home a pint of their best-selling Black Sesame açaí ($15), blended from black sesame seeds, tofu, oat milk and medjool dates. Juju also offers build-your-own-bowl bundles ($50) comprising of 2 Juju açaí pints, Pic’s Really Good Peanut Butter, house-made granola and raw cacao nibs.

Tip: Enter the Botanic Gardens via the Cluby Road gate, and turn left up the first side path, and you’ll find JuJu. It’s got plenty of seats under the trees, so it makes for a lovely nature break.

You simply cannot do a roundup of the best açaí bowls in Singapore without mentioning Project Açaí. Established in early 2015 at Holland Village, Project Açaí was Singapore’s first dedicated açaí café and burst onto the scene when açaí bowls were virtually impossible to find on our sunny island. Not feeling up to a whole bowl? Opt for a Beach Body To-Go Açaí Smoothie ($9) instead! This natural sugar is low on the glycemic index, making it a healthier alternative to other artificial sweeteners.

The Acerola cherry is another super fruit native to South America and (much like the açaí) is packed full of vitamin A and C. At The Açaí Collective, you have the opportunity to sample this unique fruit in the Acerola Mango bowl ($9.50) — a blend of organic Acerola, mangoes and banana, finished with a sprinkling of house-baked granola and fresh fruits.

Healthy food often gets a bad reputation for being expensive. At Absolute Açaí, however, this notion is thrown out of the window when you can get açaí bowls for as low as $5.90! We recommend their Nuttilicious Crunch Bowl (from $6.50), topped with granola, coconut flakes, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, macadamia nuts and your choice of butter (peanut, cookie, almond or cashew).
