If you think that tofu and cheesecake sound weird together, then you’ve got to try Cake Spade’s Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake ($7.90 per slice), which has fresh strawberries encased in jelly atop a creamy base that’s supported by a perfectly baked digestive biscuit crust at the bottom.

While it’s not exactly made up of tofu, Cake Spade uses a healthier version of cream cheese that makes it as soft and silky as real tofu, so if you prefer a cheesecake that’s “lighter” on the tummy (or as locally known, not so gelak), this will be right up your alley. It also has a Brownie Bottom Cheesecake ($8.90 per slice) that’s just as good – if you’re not a big fan of strawberries – as well as an array of cream cheesecakes and baked cheesecakes of various flavours. Worth a check!

Japanese cheesecake chain LeTao is famous for its  Double Fromage Cheesecake ($28) that’s made of imported Italian mascarpone cheese. The cakes are made in Hokkaido, frozen with its own special technology, then air-flown to Singapore.

The cake’s unique selling point lies in its layers – a top layer of unbaked cheesecake that’s light and milky and a bottom layer of baked rich cheesecake. The concoction is then topped off with a layer of powdery parmesan cheese. The result? A light and fluffy confection that melts like snow in the mouth. Want something with more oomph? Other flavours such as double chocolate and berry are also available.
