Tucked into the trendy Haji Lane is a Mexican restaurant you simply cannot miss. This colorful spot is well-known for their guacamole ($10.90), freshly prepared at your table and paired with warm tortilla chips.

Wash it down with a glass of Margarita ($14) for the perfect Mexican meal. (We hear it’s home to some of the best margaritas in town.)

We’re glad this popular Mexican chain in Australia made its way to Singapore. Its signature burritos are huge, but we’d willingly surrender ourselves to a looming food coma for this. Another plus point: Choose between different fillings for single orders of tacos, so you get to try out a little bit of everything (then go back for more!).

Cha Cha Cha is one of Singapore’s oldest Mexican restaurants – and surely that says something about their food. If you think burritos are the best Mexican inventions ever, wait till you try the Chimichanga, which are – wait for it – DEEP FRIED burritos. Other favourite include its selection of seafood tacos, as well as the Caldillo ($19) – beef stew topped with jalapenos and served with flour tortillas, cilantro rice or refried beans. You can catch us saying for sure!

6. Lower East Side Taqueria

This restaurant looks two parts quirky and one part cutesy – think pattern-tiled floors, wooden chairs hanging from the ceiling – but the food here is quite another force to be reckoned with. Try the Ancho Pulled Pork burrito ($13), filled with fresh guacamole, cilantro rice, refried black beans, sambal mayo salsa or savour one of the restaurant’s tequila and mezcal handpicked tasting flights.

We love the vibes of this dynamic Mexican garden bar – it’s like a fiesta – but not quite as much as we love the food. Even its meat-free Sunchoke Tacos ($9), which features a mix of roasted jerusalem artichoke, lime crema, lettuce and cashew crema encased in a taco shell, packs a punch. Wash your meal down with a playful Mexican cocktail such as its signature El Classico margarita ($19).

Lucha Loco is part of the Loco Group — a Mexican restaurant and bar group that also owns Chico Loco on Amoy Street, Super Loco at Robertson’s Walk and Customs House. (Psst… Chico Loco has a whole different menu revolving around Mexican roast chicken that is definitely worth trying!)

Tucked away in Little India is an unassuming dive bar packing a lot of flavor — meet: Chimichanga. From tacos and nachos to chimichangas (duh!), this dive bar’s got it all. Our favorites? Try their Carne Asada tacos ($14), consisting of Carne Asada skirt steak strips wrapped in a soft corn tortilla and topped with guacamole and crema.

Sister outlet Chimi’s is located at Marina Boulevard and is touted as Singapore’s first Mexican bar in a shipping container. Enjoy bar favorites such as Al Pastor Chicken Skewers ($14) and Loaded Beef Nachos ($12) with a fantastic view of Marina Bay.

Located at Dempsey Hill, Margarita’s was created as a nod to the eclectic past of Old Mexico. The location celebrates the rustic elegance and timeless appeal of Mexico’s old-world estates with its high-beamed ceilings and use of decorate wrought iron.

If you’re a lover of salsa, this is definitely the place to check out. Margarita’s offers one of the best Salsa Rojas en Verde ($10) along with other Mexican favorites. Chow down on Cachetes de Res en Mole Pasilla ($42), a dish of braised beef cheeks nestled in caulifloewr purée, citrus gremolata, pasilla mole and warm corn tortillas.

True to their name, Margarita’s serves up some delectable (you guessed it) Margaritas as well. Get a glass of their Grand Margarita for $20 or split a pitcher amongst a group for $80, either way, you’ll be sure to find us at this trendy joint come Friday night.
