Lynda Williams, Founder + CEO of Vim & Vigour PR and Co-founder of The Soothe
British expat Lynda Williams came to Singapore 12 years ago, not expecting to start a marketing business – much less, turning into a wellness guru. With a degree in hotel management, she worked for luxury hotel groups such as Aman Resorts and then COMO Hotels and Resorts. These jobs helped her develop a strong pedigree in public relations, communications and marketing, and she finally decided to set out on her own in 2013.
That was the year Lynda founded boutique communications agency Vim & Vigour PR, which advises clients on brand development, positioning, messaging and more. In the beginning, though, many companies wouldn’t hire the firm because it was too small. “But we didn’t give up,” recalls Lynda, who now regularly employs about seven team members. “Word got out and then we started getting more clients and, eventually, those clients that said no, came knocking on our door.” Vim & Vigour’s client roster has gone on to include Michelin-starred restaurants and, yes, Lynda’s former employer COMO Hotels and Resorts. Now, that’s boss energy.
Unfortunately, there was a personal toll. “In the early days, I worked like a crazy woman and learnt the hard way – I was literally grey and couldn’t get out of bed,” says Lynda, who has since embraced wellness habits like meditation. Perhaps as a natural result, she launched wellness platform The Soothe in October 2020. The goal of its inclusive, uplifting content? “We want to support people in their wellness journey, whatever stage they are at.”
