Vincent Yang, Founder of abComo Ecommerce and anyStarr
When Vincent Yang was in his first year at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, he kick-started his entrepreneurial journey by selling second-hand items, and then building a website for his uncle’s business. After coming to Singapore to complete his graduate studies, he stayed on – and ended up launching his Expatpreneur Award-winning businesses in 2020.
The first, abComo, is an e-commerce platform that sells jewellery and accessories inspired by the beautiful Lake Como in Italy, which was unique to the market here. He and co-founder Yoshiaki Hiyoshi (far right, in bottom photo) also founded anyStarr, an influencer platform that connects influencers with brands like Alibaba. To what does Vincent attribute his success? “I try to keep an open mind and learn as fast as possible,” he says.
However, he and Yoshiaki faced extraordinary challenges to get the brands off the ground. The businesses were incorporated during the 2020 circuit-breaker period, and the partners were forced to build their team remotely. The experience brought
the two men closer. “I always wanted to create something on my own, but, with Vincent, we can reach even higher,” shares Yoshiaki, who has lived and worked in China, Japan and Taipei, in addition to his Singapore home.
Looking ahead, the pair plan to expand anyStarr, in particular, into Japan to help companies with cross-border expansion. Says Yoshiaki, “We hope our platform will help propel them, especially during this period when it is difficult for them to look outside.”
anyStarr is the world’s leading one-stop influencer platform that helps connect brands creators and communities around the globe. Read more about the story behind Vincent’s platform to help influencers achieve anyStarr-dom.
