Dishes like grilled octopus, hummus, lamb meatballs and saganaki call diners from all over the city, some with Greek heritage and some without. But most people here agree – including us! – these 5 Greek restaurants in Singapore have the most delicious Greek food around.

1. Bakalaki Greek Taverna

When it comes to Greek hospitality and authenticity, Singapore residents with Greek heritage are breaking dishes and saying, “Bakalaki Greek Taverna all the way!” This Tiong Bahru outlet features five different grilled seafood dishes, including octopus, sea bream, prawn, sea bass and swordfish (from $16.90). One diner says their taramasalata ($15.90) is “the best ever” and the pan-fried feta with honey and sesame seeds ($16.90) is “amazing!” Bakalaki also features a plethora of Greek wines and has some of the best Greek beers, too. 2. Blu Kouzina

Blu Kouzina has been a Singapore Greek food fixture since 2010, having expanded from its original Bukit Timah location to a new location in Dempsey Hill. It prides itself on using its own extra virgin olive oil from Messinia, Greece, for dishes such as its octopus (Xtapodi, $39.80) cooked with vinegar and said EVOO. In today’s Covid environment, Blu Kouzina has pivoted to provide delivery via kitchens in Katong, Boat Quay, Lavender and Dempsey (check the menu). It’s also available on Deliveroo. Once dine-in is less restricted, do go and enjoy a meal within this Greek restaurant’s beautiful blue decor.

3. Alati Divine Greek Cuisine

Telok Ayer’s answer to authentic Greek cuisine is Alati, which means “salt” in Greek. It flies in fresh Greek fish each week, including Lavraki (seabasss), Tsipoura (seabream), Fagri (red porgy) and Milokopi (shi drum). True to its name, this chic Greek restaurant – whose interior is almost entirely white – cooks the fish in its signature salt-baked style or through traditional grilling. Diners who love this corner of Greece praise its Melizanosalata ($17), which is smoked eggplant, red peppers and walnuts, as well as the baklava ($21) dessert.

4. Souvlaki Bar By Fotia

Another emerging favorite for diners looking for strong Greek and Mediterranean fare is Souvlaki Bar By Fotia in Duxton Hill. One Greek-Aussie living here says, “This is where you go for killer Souvlaki and more of social dining with a Greek bar vibe.” It features authentic dishes like Spanakopita ($18), which is made with homemade pastry, and the Greek yoghurt ($13.80) is made from scratch. Others note “they make a mean lamb shank risotto and the dakos salad is to die for.” You can order the Greek restaurant’s delicacies in Singapore for delivery on Deliveroo or foodpanda.

5. Zorba The Greek Taverna

If you like al fresco dining, then Zorba The Greek Taverna’s the resto for you. It sits on the charming waterfront along the Singapore River at Clark Quay. Even though the foot traffic isn’t as vibrant as it used to be before Covid, dining at this Greek restaurant still makes for a nice night out. The staff is kind and accommodating with seating, even when it’s raining. The eatery makes its own potato chips for souvlaki and kebab plates ($18 and $24, respectively).
