Handy Hints to Re-decorating in a Jiffy

Give your home a new look with these tips from Joann Ang, design director and founder of Designed Design Associates.

Cover a feature wall with a large-format print

Instead of wallpaper, feature a gorgeous print across an entire wall for dramatic effect. Whether you prefer a world map or an art print, you can easily source for high-resolution images via online image banks, measure your wall, and go to a large-format printer with these details.

Add an accent cushion

This is a simple way to add a point of interest to your living room. Even simple black stripes can be interesting. Just remember to always work with one, three or five cushions, as the eye tends to prefer odd numbers.

Create a photo collage

Combine picture frames of different sizes and shapes to create an interesting display. You can experiment with squares, rectangles and circles. But try to keep them the same colour.

Invest in a statement rug

A rug with interesting prints can instantly change up your space. Try non-geometric shapes or floral patterns – but avoid trendy pieces that may quickly go out of fashion.
