International Moving Checklist

Because it’s never too early to start planning your move.


6-12 months to moving day:

Check visa requirements and rules about medical examinations/vaccines, pets

Get to know housing, cities, culture and lifestyle in your new country

Explore health insurance coverage & schooling

Take inventory of the things you want to take with you, store, sell or throw


3-6 months to moving day

Meet with and get quotes from relocation companies

Research banking needs and options at home and in your new country

Get insurance policies and tax information in order

Apply for kids’ schools

Check/update passports

Begin your home’s sale or rental process


1 month to moving day

Set packing date and confirm with relocation company

Make flight reservations, hotel and temporary stay arrangements

Notify your utility company of the move

Arrange for postal services to stop or forward mail

Provide friends and family with new contact info

Get excited for moving day!
