Jumping On the Bun Wagon

Nothing beats a thick, juicy burger with all the trimmings. Excuse us while we hunt down the island’s scrummiest burger offerings.

Feeling Crabby

We’re loving this gastronomical equation: take local favourite jumbo crab and add it to a tried and tested burger formula. The answer is Artistry Café’s Crab Burger with onion tomato relish. And we’re not talking about a small piece of crab serving, either – this crab cake, which is perfectly crisp on the outside and moist in the middle, is plump, firm and well-constructed. With the tangy onion relish to balance out the sweetness of the crab, it’s a match made in gastro heaven. Seafood lovers, you can’t miss this.

Artistry Café is at 17 Jalan Pinang Road. Tel: 6298 2420.

Super Hiro

While the idea of fusing Japanese and Hawaiian cuisine might seem quirky, in actual fact, the Japanese are the second largest ethnic group in Hawaii! And to sample a taste of island life, there’s no better introduction than Little Hiro’s signature Ramen Burgers. You can pick from the BBQ Bacon Bleu Ramen Burger or the Chicken Karaage Ramen Burger. Either way, you can expect quality noodles, as the ramen is specially sourced and imported from Japan. And given the amount of schools in the neighbourhood, the prices are pleasantly wallet-friendly.

Little Hiro is at #01-01 King’s Arcade, 559 Bukit Timah Road. Tel: 6466 3477.

Up Up and Away

Gourmet burgers at a fast food price is already a big hit with our tummies and our wallets, but what gets us even more excited about new local burger joint BurgerUP is you get to customise your burgers. A fast food restaurant with a high tech twist, BurgerUP lets you place orders on computerised kiosks before heading to the counter to pay and collect your meal. With beef, chicken, and fish on offer, you can choose your patty depending on your mood. And if you’re wary about fast food standards, foodies will be glad to hear that a chef is stationed at the outlet to ensure the burgers are top quality.

BurgerUP is at #01-03 Yishun Ten Complex, 51 Yishun Central.

Light My Fire

Nestled in a cosy corner of Evans Road is casual restaurant Wildfire Kitchen + Bar. But don’t let the relaxed vibe and the self-service system fool you into thinking they’re laid-back about their food. Wildfire’s range of gourmet burgers feature premium meat patties nestled between two soft buns. There are plenty of choices for toppings – The Works, our fave burger on the menu, has caramelised onions and guacamole (mmm). While the patties are soft and juicy, we love that the buns stay fluffy without soaking up too much of the liquid. For the perfect meal, pair your burger with the Umami Fries that are sprinkled with a secret dust.

Wildfire Kitchen + Bar is at 26 Evans Road. Tel: 6734 2080.
