Love NATURE? Here’s Why You MUST VISIT Bohol, Philippines In 2020!

Home of wide-eyed tarsiers, countless geological formations and pristine coral reefs, the province of Bohol is a lovely haven for all things nature.

Eat + Drink

There are a number of restaurants in Bohol that cater to the Western palate, but try these local joints instead: Visit Gerarda’s Place for ubi-kinampay, purple yams that are indigenous to Bohol. Or, head to Payag Restaurant, known for having the best Filipino-style barbecue in Bohol. (30 J.S Torralba St, 6300; 18 CPG East Ave, Center Matig-A St., Tagbilaran City, 0023)

Swimming in one of Bohol’s most popular tourist spots, the crystal blue waters of Hinagdanan Cave, is a must-do here. Or, travel to Corella to observe wild tarsiers at the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary. End the day with a cruise down scenic Loboc River. (Bingag, Dauis, Panglao Island; Tarsier Sanctuary Rd, Corella)

Kalamay, Bohol, Philippines, travel, southeast asia, asia

A sticky and sweet Filipino delicacy, kalamay is a dessert made from glutinous rice, coconut milk and brown sugar. In Bohol, they’re easy to find – look for a brown coconut shell with a characteristic red paper strip.

Escape the city and stay at South Palms Resort Panglao (from $230 a night). This beachfront resort has the longest undisturbed (and Loboc River exclusive) beach in Panglao. Or, explore the Loboc River instead! Loboc River Resort (from $60 a night) offers gorgeous room views of the waters and dense forests.

Getting There + Around

There are regular direct flights on budget and full-service carrier flights from SG to Bohol’s capital, Tagbilaran City. Once there, you can wander the city cheaply on a tricycle (actually a motorbike with a sidecar) or van, Bohol’s main forms of transport.
