Expanding Horizons Through Diversity Is At The Heart Of This International School

Established in 2008, One World International School (OWIS) creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for students of different nationalities, cultures and religions.

It offers the IB PYP for primary years, and the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum and IB Diploma programme for secondary years. Recently, it received accolades like the Excellence in International Curriculum Practices Award at the World Education Awards in 2020, in the midst of a global lockdown.

3 Fast Facts:

1. Fluency On Another Level

OWIS’ unique bilingual programme allows students from Grades 1 to 5 to become fully fluent in English and Chinese by structuring its classes in both languages. Students may converse in either language, and this boosts their confidence levels. It also helps students in mastering language and cultural knowledge at the same time.

2. Inspiring Global Thinkers

OWIS’ IB PYP, IGCSE and IB Diploma curricula aim to expand world knowledge and prepare students with the necessary skills for further education. Besides academics, OWIS develops students holistically through a range of specialist subjects such as Music, Performing and Visual Arts, Foreign Languages and Physical Education. Students may also partake in school field trips, residential visits and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) programmes.

3. Celebrating Multiculturalism

At OWIS, diversity is a pillar of importance, and students of all backgrounds are welcomed with open arms. Students come from over 70 nationalities, but no more than 30 per cent of students come from one particular nationality. OWIS believes that surrounding kids with peers from all over the world prepares them for the real world, as well as enhances their critical thinking and relationship skills.

Parent Perspective

“Eloise has gained confidence in herself and her abilities since joining OWIS. The subject in which she struggled most at the start of the school year has become her favourite! She also really loves learning about cultures and traditions from around the world. OWIS has such diversity, leading to many great learning opportunities for the students. Eloise has come to appreciate differences and respect others, while being proud of her own heritage.”
