Love in the time of Covid may be putting your creative juices to the test. If you’re running out of affordable date ideas – or just, well, ideas – fret not.

Yes, dating can be expensive and finding affordable date ideas can be a little tricky. But these fun outdoor activities in Singapore could provide you and your date a breath of fresh air (literally). Best news ever: they won’t break the bank, either.

Stay away from typical movies and malls and show off your adventurous side with these fun and inexpensive outdoor activities!

1. Luge and Skyride at Sentosa

Hop aboard the Skyride, a chairlift ride that offers scenic views of Sentosa, while being transported to the top of the Luge slopes. Then, race your date down one of the four trails in the three-wheeled go-karts.

2. Nature walk at Coney Island

Coney Island (also known as Pulau Serangoon) is the place to be for picturesque views, whether you’re sticking to the main path (2.4km), following the signs to the beaches, or carving your own path off the beaten track. You can even rent bicycles and cycle around the island to get some exercise in.

3. Kayaking at The Water Sports Centre

For just $12 per person, you and your date can kayak around The Water Sports Centre for two whole hours. Located next to Kallang Basin, this is a perfect activity to burn off some energy. First-timers to the water sport can also opt for the more beginner-friendly pedal boats, while more experienced paddlers will be thrilled to tackle the 500m long Regatta course.

4. A picnic at East Coast Park

Outdoor activities doesn’t always mean intense exercise. Grab a basket and mat — that’s all you need for a relaxing day by the beach. Find a shady spot, and prepare to lounge or dip your toes in the water. Or opt for renting a barbecue pit to enjoy an elevated picnic. Want to stay the night? 5. Hiking at MacRitchie Reservoir

Want more adventurous date ideas? Immensely popular among hikers and nature lovers, MacRitchie Reservoir, located just off Thomson Road, is home to landmarks that offer stunning views like the TreeTop Walk and Jelutong Tower. 6. Kite Flying at Marina Barrage

Besides being a great tourist attraction, the Marina Barrage offers open skies and a cool breeze to visitors. Why not take a kite there on a clear day and enjoy an afternoon of kite flying, then chilling as the sun goes down? A great date idea for couples who love a day in the great outdoors, but aren’t quite fans of physical activity. This is ideal for those early-day dates when you’re just getting to know each other, since you’ll have plenty of time to bond while making that kite soar.

7. Rock climbing at SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre

For the extra active couples, add rock climbing to your exercise regiment. SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre offers outdoors rock walls – perfect for adrenaline junkies and sporty couples. At $85 per pax ($75 for SAFRA members), you get to test your skills on the 15m and 25m climbing walls or take it up a notch with the 18m slab, chimney and crack walls.

8. Explore the Botanic Gardens

There’s a good reason why this 150-year old tropical garden is Singapore’s first and only UNESCO World Heritage Site. With trails and gardens sprawling 74 hectares, there’s plenty to see and do with your partner, whether it be a light jog or a relaxing picnic. What’s more, admission to all areas except the National Orchid Garden is completely free of charge.

9. Go island hopping

Singapore isn’t the only island you can explore. Take a city ferry and discover Singapore’s several small islands scattered around – from St. John’s Island to Pulau Ubin, and many more! Island hopping is a great date idea for those wanting to escape the bustle of the city. Think tranquil beaches, blue waters, and the fresh sea breeze.

10. Sembawang Hot Spring Park

Did you know Singapore has its own natural hot spring park? Journey to the North of Singapore in this little hidden gem, reminiscent of old kampungs. 11. Climb tree tops at Forest Adventure

This is as adventurous as adventurous outdoor activities go. Reach into your inner child and visit Forest Adventure at Bedok Reservoir Park. Adults can go on the Grand Course, equipped with 44 shaky crossings and 3 zip lines over the water. If you’re an extra adrenaline junkie, check out the Big Zip, a 3oo meter long zip line across the water.

12. Paddle Boarding at Ola Beach Club

This Hawaiian Sentosa spot offers paddle boarding and other water sports to enjoy with your date. If surfing is a little intimidating, paddle boarding is a great alternative, but challenging nonetheless! Prices are reasonable for a fun packed day by the beach.
