Singapore’s Secret Places To Eat, Drink, and Play – By Expat Charlotte Puxley

Florist Charlotte Puxley runs a studio Charlotte Puxley Flowers in Tiong Bahru where she creates chic arrangements for parties and restaurants (back in London, she was even part of the team that designed Kate Moss’ bridal bouquet!).

She draws inspiration for her projects from things she sees every day in Singapore. “I love looking out my doorstep,” she says.

She also shared with us some tips for DIY floral arrangement like a pro, and how to keep flowers fresher for longer in Singapore!

Her constant companion

She says floral books are a big part of her research for her work. “I can’t wait to sink my teeth into The Flowers by Dr. Lisa Cooper,” she says.

For Greek eats

Charlotte is a big fan of the Fava (yellow lentils) and Kolokithokeftedes (zucchini and feta fritters) at Blu Kouzina. “I always order extra to sneak home!” she says.

For night-crawling

“I love a late-night trip to ION Orchard on my own on a Wednesday night,” she reveals. “Not only to pick up the odd thing here and there, but also just to be in the centre of Singapore.”

For e-shopping

She prefers to traverse the web for great clothes and accessories. “The Reformation, Shopbop and eBay are all firm favourites,” says Charlotte. “I shop the Internet a lot – to a worrying extent.”

For city escapes

“I miss the English countryside,” muses Charlotte. Her make-do: a nice walk along East Coast Park. And on rainy days? “A vase hunt at Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle is just great.”

For natural beauty

Charlotte uses aloe vera on her skin every morning. “I believe in keeping all my products natural,” she says. She swears by Aveda, which she claims “smells the best and is the best.”
