Rachel Ward is the director of Taylor B. Design, an iconic Singapore-based furniture company with collections spanning from designer brands to antique Chinese furniture.
Originally from Australia, Rachel has been living in Singapore for 15 years with her husband and three sons, who attend GESS – German European School Singapore.
For business chic
She prefers to dress casually. “But, there are times where a more business style is needed,” she says. “I tend to shop at Marks & Spencer, as its range of clothes fits my height better.”
Various locations
For cafe culture
Rachel recommends Riders Cafe, which is at the verdant Bukit Timah Saddle Club. “It’s fun to watch people riding their horses while enjoying a leisurely breakfast on the weekend,” she says. Bonus: Free parking!

A self-professed coffee lover, she also likes Brunetti for its great Italian brew, little cakes and pastries, and Carpenter & Cook for its lemon drizzle loaf (pictured) and vintage ambience.

For fighting the weather
While Rachel loves the warm weather in SG, the humidity can do a number on her curly hair.
Her secret weapon for smooth locks? Products from hair titan John Frieda. “They help me keep control,” she says.
For all-out art
She never misses Singapore Repertory Theatre’s annual Shakespeare in the Park.
“Good food, good friends and excellent theatre in a wonderful outdoor setting,” she muses. “My family also enjoys international film festivals and concerts at the Botanic Gardens.”
Perks of the job
It must be nice to go to work, and scope furniture pieces for your own home. Rachel says she does just that – buying items from Taylor B. Design’s three floors.
“Now, with our new webstore, you can shop anytime, anywhere,” she adds.
