Beginning as a small nursery school, Sir Manasseh Meyer International School (SMMIS) quickly became a thriving community that included a primary school and subsequently a secondary school in 2016…
The latter offers the prestigious IGCSE exam programme. In November 2020, SMMIS was awarded the EduTrust accreditation for the fourth year by SG’s Committee for Private Education (CPE), given to schools that “consistently maintain a high standard of quality”.
3 Fast Facts:
1. Small By Design
With a strong pastoral system in place, SMMIS believes every child is more than just a number. Its average teacher-to-student ratio is a low 1:18. This small class size tailors to every child’s journey and aspirations. In addition, students start their day with daily mindfulness to hone a positive mindset. Regular Personal, Social, Health and Emotional (PSHE) classes address topics in an age-appropriate and relevant manner.
2. Innovating With Makerspace
SMMIS believes the key to a child’s future success depends on the ability to think critically, problem solve and collaborate. Its Design and Technology Makerspace programme provides students with the space, materials and cutting-edge technology to experiment, build and invent.
In a recent project, secondary school students built cardboard automata (using simple machine elements such as cams and levers), while primary pupils worked in pairs to build a small 3-D model of Singapore’s famous landmarks.
3. Coming Soon!
Come August 2022, the school is opening a Sixth Form offering ‘A’ Levels, which will allow SMMIS to become a through-train school – with students from 18 months to 18 years old.

“As recent arrivals in Singapore, we have been thrilled to see how seamlessly Gila and Liora have made the transition into attending SMMIS. We have been particularly pleased by the personal attention, diversity and academic rigour provided by SMMIS. Most importantly, SMMIS emphasises the value of being thoughtful, empathetic and constructive members of society.”
– Brent and Arisu Kessler, parents of Gila, 8, and Liora, 5
