It’s more than a sports hub – it’s a lifestyle hub. From sports facilities to shopping malls and libraries, the Sports Hub can easily fill up your day-out itinerary.
More than just a sports complex, the 35-hectare Singapore Sports Hub is an integrated venue with something for everyone to enjoy. With malls catering to the avid shopper, to restaurants for the foodies, and facilities for the active bunch, it’s no wonder this is where Singapore comes to play.
With the Stadium MRT providing direct access to the area, and the place within walking distance from Kallang MRT, it is easy to get here. Whether you are planning to go out and be active, or want to enjoy the day in a shopping mall, discover our guide to this amazing destination, and start planning your own trip there!
*Please note there will be further changes to the Covid-19 restrictions post the Phase 2 Heightened Alert on 13 June 2021. It goes without saying, the safety of everyone remains a top priority.
Things to do around Sports Hub
1. 100PLUS Promenade
Oh no! Has the rain ruined your running plans? I guess it’s time to take a trip down to the Sports Hub. The 100PLUS Promenade features the distinctive three-lane running track which circles around the entire Sports Hub. One full circle around the track will help you clock 888m. Markings on the floor will guide you on completing a 2.4km run. And yes, it is completely sheltered. After your run, cool down along the spacious promenade, and rehydrate from the many vending machines which line the tracks. People cycle, skate, and rollerblade around the promenade too!
Feeling the heat? Cool off with your little ones at the Splash-N-Surf! Whether you are young or young-at-heart, have a splashing good time with your family and friends here. Slide down the colourful slides, relax on the lazy river, or just waddle in the water. With shower facilities and other amenities, this is a wonderful destination for a family’s day out.
*Covid Updates: In line with the Multi-Ministry Taskforce Safe Management Measures (SMM), Singapore Sports Hub has tightened measures across all venues and facilities. The OCBC Arena, OCBC Aquatic Centre and Splash-N-Surf are temporarily closed. Visit www.sportshub.com.sg/updates for full details.
3. Water Sports Centre
The Water Sports Centre is located right by the picturesque Kallang basin. Facilities there cater to both elite athletes as well as the general public. From there, you can rent a canoe, kayak, or even a dragon boat. The Water Sports Centre is also home to Singapore Canoe Federation, Singapore Dragon Boat Association and ActiveSG Canoe Academy. For more details, visit here.
4. Stadium Riverside Walk
Want something more chill and laid-back? Well then, nothing will beat a leisurely stroll down the Kallang riverside. Overlooking the Kallang Basin, you can see the Central Business District, Marina Bay, as well as the famous Tanjong Rhu estate. The aesthetic riverside walk also has various things to look out for — such as the Tanjong Rhu Suspension Bridge, a water fountain feature, as well as a larger-than-life wooden bench (one of many across Singapore!) for your Instagram pics.
5. Sports Hub Beach Volleyball Courts
Looking for some adrenaline-pumping action? Look no further than the public beach volleyball courts at the Sports Hub. Located right beside the Kallang Riverside, the two full-sized courts offer a fun beach volleyball sesh with your buddies. Nearby is the Kallang Wave Mall, with toilets and other facilities for you to freshen up after your game. Volleyball not provided.
Beach volleyball courts are made available to the public. Pre-booking is required here.
6. Sports Hub Skate Park
Channel your inner Tony Hawk as you show off your moves with the city skyline in the background. The skate park, located on Level 3 of the Sports Hub, is directly accessible from the 100PLUS Promenade. With various obstacles and fixtures, you can find like-minded skaters training off their new techniques, and just simply having fun. Tired of the skate park at Somerset? Try this one then! Though, we hope it does not rain when you are there. The skate park is currently not sheltered.
7. Sports Hub Basketball Courts
Ever wondered where some of the best basketball courts in Singapore are? Well, here’s some reasons why the Sports Hub basketball courts will be on the “best” list. Firstly, just like the skate park, you can take in the awesome views of the Central Business District as you shoot your hoops. Secondly, the well-fenced courts make your play safe, and you do not have to worry about the ball rolling onto a busy road, or hitting an innocent passerby. Last but not the least, you are surrounded by facilities like toilets, vending machines, and even shower facilities. Try your next b-ball game here!
Pre-booking of Basketball Courts are needed here.
8. OCBC Arena
The OCBC Arena houses even more sports facilities and various courts. At Hall 1, you can find indoor basketball courts as well as table tennis setups. Hall 2 features a massive indoor badminton hall for you to kick up a sweat. In Hall 3, indoor netball and volleyball courts await your next game. All these indoor facilities are part of the OCBC Arena, and require advance booking and payment. Visit this website to learn more.
