Check Out How This British International School Takes Its Curriculum BEYOND The Classroom

Tanglin Trust School is committed to ensuring children embark on their educational journey feeling safe, valued, confident and happy to learn.

Established in 1925, Tanglin Trust School offers excellence in education to children aged 3 to 18 through an enhanced English national curriculum and innovative staff.

Each child’s individual strengths and interests are nurtured through creative and integrated experiences. Classrooms, outdoor areas and the curriculum are designed to capture children’s imagination and cultivate a lifelong love for learning. This is underpinned by a commitment to support their social, emotional, spiritual and cultural awareness.

1. Fostering curiousity

Tanglin Nursery is the first school in Asia to achieve the Curiosity Approach-accredited status, which supports using more natural and recycled materials, as well as authentic resources, in a practical and aesthetically pleasing way. Its “toolkit” consists of six modules – taking parts from the Reggio Emilia, Steiner, Te Whariki and Montessori approaches – that create an environment where children’s
natural desire to learn can flourish.

2. A holistic environment

Tanglin’s Infant School curriculum promotes personal, emotional and social development, which focuses on developing children’s self-confidence and self-awareness, such as in forming relationships with peers and teachers and understanding how to manage their feelings and behaviours.

In addition, Tanglin believes physical and creative development promotes a sense of well-being. As well as within the classroom, this may take place in a specialist classroom, sports hall, the swimming pool or on the developmentally appropriate playground.

3. Ensuring excellence

Tanglin is inspected within the British Schools Overseas (BSO) framework, recognised by the Office for Standards in Education in the UK. Tanglin’s Infant, Junior and Senior Schools have been repeatedly judged “Outstanding”, the highest possible grade (latest inspections cover 2017, 2018 and 2019). As a not-for-profit school, tuition fees are devoted solely to providing an exceptional education. A new school building is under construction at Gate C, which will provide a wide range of facilities in 2022, including a 50-metre swimming pool, gymnastics centre and enhanced infant facilities.

Parent Perspective

“Our children all love going to school, with each of them having different things they prefer. They are thriving and making strong friendships, while at the same time being extended to the best of their abilities academically, socially and within the arts, sport and music!” – Dr. Heather King and Dr. David O’Neill, parents of Connor (Year 6), Flynn (Year 5), Olivia (Year 4) and Grace O’Neill (Year 1)
