This Is Why We Keep Visiting Bangkok Over And Over AGAIN

It’s no secret why so many tourists love this Thai capital: inexpensive shopping and excellent food — hence, its back-to-back titles as world’s most visited city. Just a 2.5-hour flight away from SG, it’s worth a visit (or five!).

Where To Eat + Drink

Head to Thip Samai for what locals say is Bangkok’s best pad thai (fried noodles), or make a reservation at Raan Jay Fai – Bangkok’s only Michelin-star street food restaurant – for a taste of its delicious crab omelettes. (Phone 092-724 9633 or jayfaibangkok@gmail.com)

What To Do

Book a wallet-friendly day tour with klook to visit Bangkok’s floating markets, ranging from the Maeklong Railway Market and the authentic Amphawa Floating Market, to the iconic Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. klook also has packages for spas, cabaret shows and special performances, family-friendly theme parks and more.

Where To Shop

Bangkok is home to a tonne of quality shoppingmalls, each with access to a wide range of designer brands and popular department stores. Tick off your shopping list at these malls: Siam Paragon, CentralWorld, MBK Center, Siam Center and Pantip Plaza.

Where To Stay

Take in the scenic Bangkok Riverside at the AVANI Riverside Bangkok Hotel’s large, modern rooms (from $165 a night). For an offbeat stay, try the Sook Station hostel (price upon request). Designed to resemble a prison – right down to the black-and-white striped pyjamas, inmate numbers and mugshots for guests! – the space doubles up as a co-working space and regular cafe.

Getting There & Around

Fly 2.5 hours to BKK from SIN on THAI or a half dozen other airlines. Once there, get around with the BTS Skytrain or the Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT).
