Trendy Pubs that are worth your time

With so many watering-holes dotting Singapore, it’s hard to keep track of the latest pubs that are worth going to for a good bite and an even better tipple. Here’s the first of our many favourite pubs around town, which are a little off the beaten track, but certainly worth your time:

Bar Bar Black Sheep

With its three specialty kitchens of Thai, Western and North Indian, come here for great comfort food, no matter what cuisine you pick. Cocktails, champagne, red wines, white wines, draughts and craft beers, the drinks lists here are pretty extensive!

Several locations.

Next Door Cafe

This Mediterranean is famous for pizzas and pastas, as well as a special apple crumble. But how many other watering holes can boast an impressive drinks selection with over 100 beers and ales that get it voted as one of Miele’s Top 500 restaurants in Asia? www.nextdoorcafe.sg

Sunset Bay Garden Bistro

Located along East Coast Parkway, this laidback bistro has a perfect beach vibe going on, with it’s ‘Bites in a Basket’ menu option – think chicken wings, wedges, spring rolls and fries – as you leisurely sip on signature cocktails such as the Blizzard or the Sunset Tiramisu.

The Trenchard Arms

A hotspot for dinner and drinks, this sister-outlet related to the quaint Rabbit Carrot Gun, a casual dining restaurant with boutique accommodation. What started as a party on a rooftop terrace in Geylang has now become the go-to address to eat, drink and socialize. This cool Geylang hangout boasts some heady Archipelago craft brews, artisan beers such as Gjulia Nord Bionda and cocktails such as Chendolicious. Pair that with hearty pub food such as Drunken Fish & Chips or a Black Angus steak, and you’re good to go!

Located in the sculpture garden of Bedok Reservoir Park, this German pub features comfort food amid a backdrop of an architectural theme of the falling of the Berlin Wall by incorporating 2 slanted walls to the structure, symbolizing the reunification of Germany. They’ve got menu items like smoked duck, pizzas, sandwiches and pork knuckles, so expect the same no-frills drinks list and commercial brews like Tiger, Hoegaarden and Sapporos, as well as rudimentary cocktails like mojitos, Singapore Slings and Pina Coladas. www.wawawa.com.sg
