New year, new recovery option.

Christmas is almost here and coming up soon is New Year’s Eve, often referred to as “Amateur Night” when many people who don’t usually drink end up drinking way too much.

And the resulting hangover… ugh… the worst. That holds true for the pros as well as the amateurs.

But wait – there’s a new “thing” to help!

I’ve just learned of a new recovery option that is supposed to come to Singapore: you can order mobile IV therapy to recover from hangovers!

The Dose Bali has been operating in Bali since 2015 and uses licensed doctors and nurses to administer fluids packed with vitamins and other healthy stuff via IV drip. And they come to YOU!

As a matter of interest, the company was founded by two expats!

I think this is so weird! The website shows happy, smiling customers hooked up to IV tubes and bags in their hotel rooms, at the pool etc… and the website encourages booking in advance if you have a big event.

Now, I have had IV fluids for serious food poisoning and I know how much it helps. You feel better because IV by replaces lost fluids, not unlike what you lose after drinking too much.

Dehydration is part of why hangovers feel so bad. So it sounds pretty cool to be able to help yourself along a little faster under the care of nurses who can give you fluids intravenously.

The other way to battle a NYE hangover is to drink water, of course!

But not just tap water. I recently did a First Aid course and they talked about how incredibly effective coconut water is for rehydration.

Coconut water has experienced a massive increase in interest in the past few years because it replaces lost electrolytes and is loaded with potassium.

And it’s lucky for us that we have tons of access to not only store-bought brands but also fresh coconuts from the markets and grocery stores.

Even BEFORE the hangover, you can alternate drinking water with your bubbly to stave off a miserable New Year’s Day.

Last option: Just drink water and enjoy every moment of New Year’s Eve with no after-effects.
