Now that Covid restrictions have eased a bit, here are some fun activities you can do this weekend!

1. Free coffee at The Whole Kitchen

Gluten-free bakery The Whole Kitchen, alongside susGain – a social enterprise that’s all about sustainable living – have come together this National Day with a freebie. Get a free cup of coffee whenever you bring your own reusable cup to The Whole Kitchen Cafe in Joo Chiat. Whether you are – or would like to be – an advocate for sustainable living, this eco-friendly initiative is a fun and rewarding way to celebrate the nation’s 56th birthday as well as to remember the importance of leading a sustainable lifestyle.

2. Gardeners’ Day Out

Calling all nature lovers! Gardeners’ Day Out is not to be missed if you’re keen to spend the entire day on gardening and plant-themed lifestyle activities. Unlike previous sessions where everyone could experience this event in person at HortPark, this month’s affair is conducted online, where you can participate from the comfort of your own home. You can look forward to online activities such as talks and demonstrations by experts and video tutorials of kids’ activities involving handicrafts. Not to forget, there will be promotions from gardening-related vendors, too.

3. Crochet Workshop with Allageentrepreneurs

Fancy picking up a new skill? Learn and get creative with crocheting at this Crochet Workshop conducted by Allageentrepreneurs. Suitable for both beginners and experienced crocheters, there are three different projects you can choose from to work on in this class. You can decide between creating a beautiful spa gift set or a hand sanitiser holder using basic and special crochet stitches. Or, you can make cute bunnies with hearts or an easter egg with more advanced crocheting techniques.

4. Celebrating 56 Years of Singapore! Exhibition

In need of something refreshing but mind-relaxing at the same time after being cooped up at home this past month? Saunter down to this art exhibition at Tan Boon Liat Building and gaze at unique artworks created by 56 local and regional artists aged 12 to 70. Featuring paintings, digital art, ceramic, sculptures and stitched pieces with a Singapore theme, this exhibition doesn’t just give these emerging artists the chance to showcase their work, but also celebrates Singapore’s 56th birthday.

5. Coffee Workshop with Chimichanga

Having a good cup of coffee when you start your day can set the mood for the rest of your day. If you’ve always wondered how to perfect your morning fix, you can sign up for Chimichanga’s newly designed Coffee Workshop. Here, you’ll be exposed to a comprehensive overview of hand techniques in brewing as well as the origins of different coffee beans. You’ll also get to learn the coffee’s roasting profile and how it influences the steps to create the perfect cup of joe. What’s more? You’ll get to take home a gift bag of 150-grams of coffee beans.

6. Cocktail Trail with Chimichanga Holland Village

If you’re one to appreciate a good cocktail, why not experience the full process of making it at this hands-on cocktail workshop? We don’t just mean mixing cocktails in a shaker, though. We’re talking about the whole prep-to-glass process – from hunting for fresh ingredients at a supermarket to learning how to make three Mexican cocktails with the ingredients you’ve just sourced.

7. SoleMates Gin Run

Some say alcohol and fitness don’t mix. But at SoleMates Gin Run, it’s all about fun and games. Brought to you by the same people behind the SoleMates Beer Run, this 4-kilometre sweat sesh that doubles up as a gin crawl will take participants on a scenic evening run around Marina Bay every Sunday starting the 22nd of this month to 31st October. It also includes four different pit stops – Le Noir Marina Bay Sands, Mischief at Esplanade, Brewerkz One Fullerton and Chimi’s Marina Bay – where runners get to refuel with a refreshing gin and tonic or soda at each location.
