1. Deepavali events at the Indian Heritage Centre
Deepavali is around the corner – this upcoming 4 November, to be exact – and the Indian Heritage Centre is already decked out for the holiday, with a mini light-up celebration and open house that started last Friday and will run through 14 November. During the same period, there are also fun drop-in activities on offer at the IHC such as a free festive paper lamp craft.
This Saturday and next, there is a Rangoli & Kolam Workshop from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., which is free though you do have to register to attend. Or take one of the Little India Trishaw Trails every Friday this month from 6 to 8 p.m.

2. Silver Arts exhibition
Witness the creative energies of seniors in action at the Silver Arts exhibition, as they team up with local artists to create exciting art works. Enjoy grooves of the past in Stop, Look, A-Go-Go; glimpse into the lives of seniors and their caregivers in Spaces Between The Clouds or flip through their collection of life hacks in handmade books in A Library of Splendid Hacks.
Seniors and their families are encouraged to enjoy the online version of the exhibition from the safety of their homes. The exhibition is also available at Woodlands Regional Library, Jurong Regional Library and Ang Mo Kio Public Library till 30 November 2021.
This exhibition is a part of Silver Arts, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

3. International Day of Older Persons
Boost social awareness of ageing issues and commemorate International Day of Older Persons at the Science Centre Singapore all this weekend.
Themed Digital Empowerment for Seniors, this year’s event features Digital Experience, Health On Your Wrist, Near Field Communication, LED Story Circuitry and Mobility Training. Take the whole family to learn more about older persons through a plethora of exciting activities like designing a paper circuit or exercising on a jigsaw puzzle!
You can enjoy all the exhibits and activities just by purchasing a regular ticket to the Centre.

4. Children’s Day Celebration 2021
Give your kids the ultimate gift for Children’s Day: a line-up of fun events on Facebook Live designed just for them and their special day. On top of the family activities, there will be cute preschool performances, a virtual tour of Jurong Central, a grand lucky draw and more. Prizes to be won are worth $1,088 in total. Entry is totally free.

5. Singapore Garden Festival Horticulture Show
An offshoot (get it?) of the Singapore Garden Festival (SGF), this year’s Singapore Garden Festival Horticulture Show (SGF Hort Show) – organised by the National Parks Board (NParks) – will incorporate both virtual and physical activities.
Such as? Well, the virtual programming for the event includes Facebook Live sessions, Zoom webinars and videos on gardening, floral arrangements, aquascaping and more. The popular SGF MarketPlace is also going digital this year, enabling consumers to shop for plants, gardening and horticultural products anytime and anywhere all throughout the SGF Hort Show duration.
Along with virtual talks and workshops, on-site displays will take place at Singapore Botanic Gardens and Jurong Lake Gardens (see dates below). Key highlights include several competitions such as an Orchid Competition, which will showcase beautiful blooms across 68 categories grown by hobbyists and the horticulture industry, as well as an Edibles Competition, Bonsai Competition, Nano Tank Aquascaping Competition, Balcony Gardens and Vertical Greenery competitions and more!

6. TAS Voices
The opening concert for the International A Cappella Festival happened this Wednesday the 6th. As part of the annual festival, the events will continue throughout the month, including this online concert by TAS Voices, the adult wing of The A Cappella Society. For a nominal fee, you can enjoy these talented vocalists give a virtual performance, delivering a mix of classic and recent hits.

8. Highball Heist 2
