If you’re new to Singapore, or just moved houses, you may be in the market for some unique furniture to dress up your living spaces. Or, perhaps you’re simply in the mood for a decor makeover?

Whichever the case, you’ll find plenty of home inspo at Woody Antique House on Dempsey Hill, and here’s why we love it.

1. A wide array of options

When you step into the 10,000-square-foot showroom, you’ll see a diverse range of furniture from various countries all over Asia, from Chinese antiques and reproductions to Thai and Indonesian artefacts. “It is getting harder to source for quality pieces, and we pride ourselves on establishing strong business relationships with suppliers throughout Asia,” says Chris Ang, General Manager of Woody Antique House.

For more discerning antique aficionados, there are Mongolian or Tibetan sideboards, Myanmarese rain drums as well as Chinese cabinets – all of which have been painstakingly restored to be as close as possible to their original condition.

“Each piece is an expression of the skills and efforts of the carpenter who made it,” says Chris.

As a customer, you can look forward to seeing new items at every visit to Woody Antique House, as the store receives weekly shipments of a broad assortment of pieces.

2. One of a kind pieces

Woody Antique House’s range of rustic pieces made of recycled elm or teak wood from old houses and railway tracks from China and Indonesia. This means that each item has its own wood characteristics, and no one is identical.

Beautifully made and environmentally friendly, these pieces add instant warmth and interest to a home.

3. A personal touch

Plus, Chris and the staff make sure to include a personal touch when helping shoppers – and even the most challenging requests don’t faze them.

This fusion of contemporary furniture with antiques has been a growing home decor trend in Singapore, so the option of customising your very own furniture allows you to create pieces that fit your personal style and space.

Chris says he once had a customer who wanted an authentic Chinese cabinet to use as a computer cabinet. Woody Antique House created a shelf for the computer screen, a pull-out tray for the keyboard and an opening at the back of the cabinet for cables.
